I've been starting and running companies since my late teens, and the Zero Waste Project was borne from one of those businesses. In 2013 I started a business in Geelong that provided Humidity & Bacteria Control filters for commercial cool rooms, typically in cafes, restaurants and pubs.
In 2017 I started thinking about providing the same product for domestic fridges so that families could access the same benefits of longer life of fresh produce, less waste and saving money.
The idea came to a head in 2021 with the considerable increase in the cost of living, especially for groceries and fresh produce. There was also increased media coverage of the huge impact food waste has on the planet.
Hence my son Nic and I are now on a mission to help reduce food waste with Fridge Friend, as it's the single most powerful thing we can do to impact climate change.
Following Dad's footsteps, I've been starting small-scale businesses since my teens and have spent the last decade working as a marketing executive.
Fridge Friend came to life after many long conversations, research, planning and work.
After understanding the sheer scale of the food waste problem, both to the planet and households, I knew this was something I wanted to dedicate myself to.
